Digital protocols improve safety by minimizing errors, while increasing effectiveness through precise diagnostics and planning. Efficiency is achieved by reducing clinical and laboratory time, optimizing resources, and streamlining workflows. Additionally, these tools contribute to more timely care by accelerating treatment delivery. Crucially, digital technologies promote greater equity, as these systems are now widely accessible and reduce dependence on subjective clinical opinions, fostering more consistent and unbiased decision-making. Digitalization is not merely a technological upgrade but a transformative approach to modern dentistry, ultimately improving clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction.

COMPLICATIONS AFTER TOOTH/IMPLANT LOSS AND TREATMENT FAILURES: WHAT ARE THE SOLUTIONS ?

When natural dentition is combined with dental implants, treatment modalities become more complex due to anatomical differences. Blood supply, handling of the soft tissues, flap thickness, design and tension are key elements to achieving a successful surgical outcome. These factors should be evaluated and controlled during the surgical intervention. Despite the control of these critical elements, the presence of soft and hard tissue deficiencies caused by improper therapies or clinical conditions will create some difficult tasks for the clinician in the way of seeking excellence. Not only appropriate surgery will bring the successful outcomes, but also proper prosthetic procedures. Therefore, the healthy soft tissue interface and tooth-resembling emergence must be created and is of utmost importance when the esthetic outcome is the primary objective. In this presentation, critical elements and new perspectives of esthetic implant therapy will be discussed.

Creating of a ‘new smile design’ and its execution comes from our past experiences, present experiments and their reflection for the future expectations.
In todays dentistry regardless of how complex a case is, the patients will not be happy if the final aesthetic outcome will not fit their expectations. Therefore it is imperative that outlines of the final smile design should be communicated with the patient even before the treatment planning is decided and approved.
This can either be created through analog or digital techniques.
The next extremely crucial step is all about how to minimally prepare the teeth since the preservation of healthy enamel is the key to long term success and health of the tooth structure. The ideal approach to that is to be able to prepare the tooth through a solid reference which happens to be the APT (Final Mock up) representing the final aesthetic & functional design.
Until now the analog preparation techniques had been widely discussed and executed.
In this lecture the focus will be on how to digitally create the final prep design and execute the minimally invasive tooth preparations with the help of a fully automated dental robot.
It will as well cover the whole new workflow due to the extremely high precision of the system, which will allow the dentist finalize the whole procedure in an “all in one” concept.

ZIRCONIA CONNECTOR FAILURES: LESSONS TO LEARN

Understanding zirconia as a ceramic material for prosthetic restorations including implant-supported rehabilitations is important as this knowledge will dictate the choice and design of monolithic zirconia reconstructions. Early failures due to fracture of fixed dental prosthesis made of monolithic zirconia must be critically analyzed. The recovery of broken parts and their analysis using fractography can inform practitioners and dental laboratories about the cause of failure and alert as to critical design issues and surface treatments. Understanding zirconia and its processing is essential to ensure the best possible mechanical success. This presentation will highlight key material science knowledge and illustrate fracture cases using fractography as a tool for failure analysis by examining under the microscope retrieved fractured parts. Fracture origins, crack propagation direction, stress concentrations, presence of flaws will be discussed with respect to zirconia material, laboratory processing, connector design, surface treatment and occlusion. Important lessons can be learned from such premature fractures, and I will share these findings in hopefully in an eye-opening presentation.

ACQUIRED MALOCCLUSIONS AND THEIR EFFECT TO STOMATOGNATHIC SYSTEMS STABILITY. AN ESTHETIC AND FUNCTIONAL TREATMENT APPROACH.

Unlike congenital malocclusion, which is present from birth, acquired malocclusion can progress gradually, affecting both function and esthetics. While treatment planning for the correction of any occlusal discrepancy and before the beginning of any dental treatment the clinician needs to establish a healthy functional environment for the hole stomatognathic system. Primarily it means establishing a stable relationship of the mandible against the maxilla without any pain and dysfunction. If this important stage is underestimated, upon delivery of the final restoration the patient may return with an altered occlusal relationship, failing restorations and pain during function.

Digital dentistry enhances the accuracy and effectiveness of monitoring occlusion and occlusal discrepancies by integrating advanced diagnostic tools. Additionally, superimposing of different files like intraoral scans, CBCT and other, is essential for diagnosis and treatment planning. Combining digital and traditional approaches allows for a comprehensive, patient-centered treatment strategy that ensures functional stability of the stomatognathic system and esthetic restorations.

PROSTHETIC CHALLENGES IN SHAPING SOFT TISSUES SURROUNDING CERAMICS ON NATURAL TEETH

The biggest challenge in prosthetic rehabilitations on natural teeth , especially in compromised clinical situations , is probably the shaping of the soft tissue architecture by prosthetic design. The target should always be to mimic the ideal natural toothform and the surrounding gingival architecture . There are many factors that influence the esthetic outcome of a prosthetic rehabilitation: gingival manipulation by design, precision, understanding simple biological principles, reverse engineering , understanding the importance of the provisional restorations, skills of the ceramist etc…
In order to be predictable , digital planning of these cases became an essential part in the treatment concept . This lecture will focus on the digital planning and the clinical execution of compromised cases , from 2D photorealistic rendering of the case to the 3D planning of augmentation of soft tissue defects and manipulation of gingival levels

PRISM—Shaping the Papilla, Improving the Prognosis

Interdental soft tissue deficiencies and black triangles remain among the most challengingesthetic complications in periodontal and implant therapy. Beyond the esthetic concern forpatients, the lossof papillary volume may negatively influence tissue stability, prostheticintegration, and the overall prognosis of root coverage procedures.

The PRISM Technique was developed to enhance papillary architecture through a simple,minimally invasive, and highly reproducible grafting approach. By improving soft tissuevolume and reinforcing the biologic environment, this technique aims not only to optimizeroot coverage outcomes, but also to contribute to the management and partial closure ofblack triangles in selected clinical situations.

Immediate implant placement and loading are guided by a facially driven prosthetic design and thorough implant planning, facilitating soft tissue healing according to the final design and ensuring outcomes that satisfy both function and esthetics.

By implementing the presented 10-step approach for rehabilitating patients with terminal dentition, a comprehensive treatment plan can be developed through systematic analysis of the acquired digital data and executed in accordance with fundamental prosthodontic and surgical principles.

Direct composite veneers are a reliable soluBon for paBents requiring funcBonal and aestheBc treatments. Thanks to mimeBc materials and simplified layering techniques, denBsts can predictably create new smiles in one operaBve appointment.

The B.O.P.T. approach by dr Ignazio Loi has been created for fixed prosthodonBcs, but its philosophy can be applied to direct restoraBons too, giving clinicians the chance to easily condition soft tissues.

The purpose of the lecture is to show a simplified protocol for direct composite restoraBons following the B.O.P.T. approach.

Patients are aware of the new technologies, and require treatments that are highly aesthetic, minimally invasive, repairable and not too expensive. Resin composite restorations can fulfill all these requirements. However, the correct protocols have to be implemented to achieve clinical success and to obtain invisible restorations.

We often need to deal with complicated layering techniques, because we must do our best to make the artificial look like natural. Thanks to new materials and technologies, we can now rely on simplified protocols to achieve great results in the daily practice.

The purpose of the workshop is to make a critical appraisal of modern materials and procedures for direct anterior restorations, from partial ones to complete direct veneers. Color, aesthetics principles, different techniques for composite layering, finishing and polishing will be discussed.

A feasible technique for gum conditioning with composite will be carefully shown.

The simplification of protocols will be the main theme of the lecture.
